一、Function
The carding machine combs and removes impurities from the cotton rolls or chemical fiber layers supplied by the cotton box from the previous process, making all curled cotton loops into a basic straight single fiber shape. Then, it integrates cotton strips of certain specifications and stores them in the cotton drum for use in the drawing process.
二、Structural composition

① Pre-combing section: including components such as the carding roller, cotton feeding roller, cotton feeding board, dust removal knife, and small bottom leakage; The needle roller structure is used for carding machines. Composed of comb needles, coarse serrations, and fine serrations, the speed increases in a certain proportion, which not only utilizes the density difference and speed difference for free opening and transfer, but also uses the pre combing board for combing; Pre sorting plates, dust removal knives, and suction ports are set around each stabbing roller according to the direction of fiber movement. The tooth direction of the pre-sorting board is opposite to the tooth direction of the take-up roller. When the cotton bundle passes through the distance point between the pre-sorting board and the take-up roller, the cotton bundle is torn apart. Due to the small spacing between the pre-sorting board and the stabbing roller, when there are many fibers passing through it, the fibers are blocked by the pre-sorting board, making the fibers uniform and mixed here. After passing through the stabbing roller, the uniformity of the fiber layer is greatly improved.

The cotton feeding section uses spring pressurization, designed to align the torsional spring’s force direction with the pressurization direction based on the roller’s swing. The cotton feed plate is positioned above the roller, and the length from the gripping point to the licker-in’s striking point (the carding length) can be adjusted according to the raw material.

The structure of the stabbing roller area is modular. The single-needle roller adopts a comb needle form, with a diameter of 253mm and a density of 24 teeth/inch 2. It is mainly used for producing plain combed ring spun yarn, rotor spun yarn, and combed ring spun yarn.
② Main comb section: including parts such as cylinder, cover plate, Dover, and large leakage bottom; The mechanism of the cylinder, cover plate, and Dover section mainly consists of cylinder, cover plate, Dover, front and rear fixed cover plate, front and rear cover plate, and cylinder car belly cover plate (or large leak bottom), etc. After being combed by a carding roller and transferred to the cotton layer on the surface of the cylinder needle, most of the fibers are in a single fiber state, with a cotton bundle weight percentage of about 15-25%; In addition, it also contains a certain amount of short fibers and small knots with strong adhesion. So, the main function of these institutions is to further fine comb the fibers with the cylinder and cover plate, thoroughly decompose the cotton bundles, and remove some short fibers and small impurities; Dove will condense the fibers transferred from the surface of the cylinder needle into a fiber layer; Realize uniformity and mixing during the combing and coagulation process; Set up the front and rear cover plates and the belly cover plate of the tin cylinder (large leakage bottom) to cover or support the fibers on the tin cylinder to prevent scattering.
